A cliffside villa that left the grid behind

A 940 m² residence with pool, wine cellar, full climate control and three electric vehicles, running at 94 % energy independence.

A cliffside villa that left the grid behind

The challenge

The property sat at the end of a long rural feeder with frequent voltage dips and two to three outages per month. The owners wanted total continuity, zero visible hardware and charging for three vehicles without upgrading the supply.

Engineering design

24.6 kWp of concealed-mount modules across three roof planes, four Powerwall units for 54 kWh of storage, a Backup Gateway for whole-home islanding and three Wall Connectors on a shared 22 kW group with dynamic load management. The main board was rebuilt with a selective protection scheme and full surge protection.

Installation

Nine days on site, phased so the house remained occupied. All DC routing concealed within the roof build-up; the plant room was designed as a joinery element rather than a technical space.

We have not thought about electricity once since the day it was commissioned. That was exactly the brief.
