The Gateway measures grid import and export, detects loss of supply, disconnects the property from the network and re-forms a stable island powered by the battery. When the grid returns, it resynchronises and reconnects without interrupting the house.
It enforces anti-islanding protection required by network operators, applies export limits where the connection agreement demands, and provides the metering data behind every figure shown in the Tesla app.
